Compared to materials like metals, composite materials excel by high stiffness, high strength and thermal stability, in combination with low weight. Engineers use these properties to their advantage, and industrial designers know composites can assume virtually every shape.

The materials which are most frequently used at KVE are glass and carbon fibers, in combination with vinylester or epoxy thermoset resins. But also thermoplastic resins like PPS, PEKK and PEEK are increasingly popular.
